This album, originally released in 1973, the premier recording by “Impacto Crea”, a band which emerged from a drug addiction re-education project, features the voices of Frankie Hernandez, former singer for the Bobby Valentin Orchestra (whose handiwork as recording director played a vital part to the success of this album) and Fania All Star Cheo Feliciano on “Que Es Lo Que Pasa” and “Quierela.” The renowned trombonist, Reinaldo Jorge, also played a big part in this production.
Moreover, it was re-mixed by Fania All Star, Larry Harlow. Quite an impressive cast of characters, wouldn’t you say? The album kicks off with a pleasing Bossa Nova entitled “El Mensaje” then swings all the way through to the final rendition on the album, “El Arrepentido,” a danceable arrangement that cooks throughout and features an exceptional solo by bongocero Francisco Alvarado. The rest of the album’s repertoire will delight the Latin music lover as well.
